My Painful Headaches Are Not a Thing Anymore

I was told that I should try botox for my headaches. Apparently the bacteria in the botox is good for headaches when it is injected in the forehead. I do not like needles because they scare me, and I also have really bad anxiety so I did not think keeping my eyes open and having little needles injecting things into my forehead was going to be a good idea. I heard chiropractors were very good for helping people with their headaches and I thought that if I did not want to try to the procedure where they put tiny needles into your forehead, that this would be better. My Crazy Back Pain That Comes and Goes and Gets Worse and Better

Pain is very subjective. They ask you in the hospital to rate your pain on a scale from 1 to 10. A stubbed toe might feel like a 2 or three to some and a 10 or higher to others. I know a man who worked with a broken back. I have no idea how he managed that. He, apparently, did not find out until days later that the pain he was having was because his back was broken. Can you imagine? I go to my West Phoenix chiropractor as soon as my neck and back pain starts to flare up. It gets really bad for me at times. I can go for months without any problems, then it will just hit me suddenly. Read More »

A Little Pain Won’t Stop Me

My granddaughter was playing in the school Christmas concert for the first time, and I couldn’t wait to see her. She plays the clarinet, and had been practicing Christmas songs all month long for the big day. The day before the concert, my back started giving me trouble. I went to the San Francisco chiropractors office in the nick of time and received treatment so that I could still make the concert. I would have dragged myself to the concert in a full body cast if I needed to, but I figured I should at least make an attempt to get help.

On the day of the concert, I was excited, but my granddaughter was nervous. Since it was her first time, she was afraid that she would make a mistake in front of everyone and they would all start laughing at her. I told her that everything would be fine, but she just couldn’t shake the thought of playing the wrong note. Read More »

My Doctor Was Wrong About My Options

For about 6 months, I had extreme pain in my lower back that reached down the back of one of my legs and stopped right above the back of my knee. I figured that I had a pinched nerve and that it would soon go away if I did some stretches and was patient. It didn’t get better, though. A Cumming chiropractor helped me to get by more easily after I learned that I have sciatica. I was originally diagnosed by my physician, and my physician told me there was no help at all other than using a pain prescription continuously or having surgery. I’m only 42 years old, so I was having trouble wrapping my head around his diagnosis.

There was nothing specific that I did to cause the sciatica to come about. I just woke up one morning and found myself soon complaining about back pain by the time that I reached my office a couple of hours later. Within days, I had constant pain shooting down the back of my leg as well. Read More »

I Hurt My Back in the Bounce House

I have been accused on more than one occasion of having not grown up. It is not because of my maturity level, because I have that in spades. I just know that kids have a lot of fun, and I don’t mind jumping in and having fun with them. Sometimes, it literally is jumping in too. When we went to the family reunion last year, there was a huge bounce house. The kids were having a blast in it, so I went in to have some fun too. Well, I ended up visiting a Concord chiropractor a few days later because I learned that just because I like having fun with the kids does not mean I always should.

The first few jumps were not bad. They were actually fun, and my kids and I were having a blast with all their cousins. Read More »

Hospital Negligence Causes Death

Medical malpractice is a difficult area of the law. Negligence must be proven in order to win a judgment.

The example of a woman who died last year is particularly poignant, because it was a death that need not have happened but for the negligence of hospital staff. Mrs. Pender(names have been changed to protect the victim), a mental patient, died in November 2008 at a county run hospital after being left in a waiting area for 90 minutes without anyone checking on her. During her wait, Mrs. Pender stopped breathing and when found, had no pulse.

The medical malpractice lawsuit filed stated that the hospital had failed to monitor and supervise Mrs. Pender and that such negligence resulted in her death. The Coroner listed multiple drug intoxication as the cause of death. Mrs. Pender was in the county hospital waiting for a transfer to another facility and was, according to hospital protocol, seated in a waiting area.

Although the paramedic team that took Mrs. Pender to the county hospital indicated she did not exhibit suicidal behavior, she was a well-known patient at the hospital due to her extensive and highly unstable psychiatric history. The lawsuit speculates that Mrs. Pender was left alone for 90 minutes because no one truly believed there was anything wrong with her, other than the “usual” psychotic symptoms.

Whatever the true reasons were for leaving a heavily drugged psychiatric patient alone and unattended for 90 minutes, the facts are clear. Mrs. Pender went in cardiac arrest and stopped breathing because no one was monitoring her during her wait. If they had been watching her, she may be still alive today. In part, the plaintiffs medical malpractice suit, filed by Mrs. Penders daughter, states that the family has lost a kind and loving woman due to the negligence of the hospital.

While this case is an example of a medical malpractice lawsuit, it is also an example of a wrongful death lawsuit. In instances like the ones in this case, it is best to discuss the pertinent details with a dedicated and knowledgeable personal injury attorney. Only the attorney will be able to assess the facts of the case and determine which route would be best to recover damages for the types of personal injuries involved in your specific case.

Not all medical errors are classified as medical malpractice and in order to know your rights and understand how filing a medical malpractice lawsuit or a wrongful death suit works, you must speak to a skilled personal injury attorney.

Covering Assets With Fitness Insurance

Fitness insurance can cover a wide array of areas having to do with the fitness world. These policies cover anything from group fitness instructors, mind-body and yoga teachers and personal trainers to fitness centers, health clubs, gyms and studios. There may also be other insurance policies to cover areas in fitness and wellness such as dance instructors, life coaches, martial arts, Pilates teachers and reiki practitioners. Equipment used in wellness activities can also be insured. In this area, it is very important to find coverage tailored specifically for the fitness industry.

For instance, a health club offering yoga classes may want to look into coverage for its instructors. A basic package may offer $2,000,000 for each occurrence and a $4,000,000 aggregate limit. One should also consider a miscellaneous professional liability policy to protect against any bodily injury because of either performing or not performing services. As a professional, a yoga instructor should also look into personal injury liability coverage for protection against lawsuits that involve libel, slander or wrongful invasion of privacy and possibly even sexual abuse liability coverage.

A fitness insurance policy covering the whole health club will involve many of the same types of policies as found with those in a yoga package but to different extents. A health club package can include activities and areas of a building including courts, group exercise, Jacuzzi, suntan booths, swimming, weightlifting and whirlpool among others. In some states, it may also be possible to include building and personal property or home liability coverage as well as a policy that covers both renter and landlord of a rented facility.

There are also policies tailored for personal trainers that help them build a basic business strategy as well as keep an image as ethical, professional and serious. Like yoga instructors, personal trainers need personal injury liability to protect against lawsuits that threaten their reputations. However, coverage may need to extend beyond health club facilities to include all locations including clients’ homes. In this case, liability and trip and fall coverage is essential for those who offer training services including athletic trainers and sports conditioning professionals.

Fitness insurance can also cover a wide range of other areas including bonds, employment practices liability, general liability in areas including professional liability and tanning, property, umbrellas and worker’s compensation. One may work with an agent or broker that is familiar with insurance targeted toward the fitness industry in order to find the best policy possible that covers all needs whether working for a health club or as an individual instructor or trainer. It is important in this industry to protect one’s reputation as well as assets to maintain a successful presence in the world of fitness and wellness.
